Diaper Review: ABU Little Kings

ABU Little Kings

If you’re part of the AB/DL or babyfur community, you’ve probably heard the buzz around ABUniverse’s Little Kings diapers. With their adorable Japanese-inspired lion prints, soft cloth-like backing, and that regal “king of the jungle” vibe, they caught a lot of attention when they first launched. As a proud lion fursona myself (rawr!), I was excited to try them out last year — but my initial experience left me a bit underwhelmed. They weren’t bad by any means, but they didn’t quite live up to the premium quality I’ve come to expect from ABU.

Fast forward to now: After sharing my thoughts on Crinkle Cat Tales, the amazing team at ABUniverse reached out. They explained some early production hiccups with the original batch and kindly sent me a full bag to give Little Kings a proper second chance. Shoutout to their top-tier customer support — that kind of graciousness deserves recognition! So, here’s my honest, updated review of the current version of ABU Little Kings, focusing on absorbency, fit, comfort, and whether they’re worth adding to your stash.

The Print and Aesthetic: Purr-fect for Lion Fursonas and Royalty Vibes

The standout feature of Little Kings is the positional printed design featuring cute lion cubs in a colorful, starry rainbow backdrop. It’s unmistakably babyish and playful. Think classic baby diaper aesthetics with a Japanese twist. The lions are adorable, with big manes and happy expressions that scream “little king” energy. For any lion or feline babyfurs out there, this print feels tailor-made. The cloth-backed exterior keeps things soft and crinkly without being too loud, and the overall look holds up well even after use.

Absorbency: Big Improvement from the Early Days

Early production runs of Little Kings had some notorious “weeping” issues (where wetness would push through to the surface) due to a temporary change in the plastic lining under the cloth cover. ABU quickly addressed this, and the current versions use an updated shell that performs much better.

In my recent testing, I was able to handle two solid wettings comfortably. The core pulls liquid in quickly, though it tends to pool more toward the front initially rather than spreading evenly from the center. I did get that familiar “spidey-sense” tingle checking the leg gathers for side wicking, but everything stayed contained — no leaks, no surface dampness after sitting and laying down. Compared to my 2024 trial (where weeping happened almost immediately), this is a huge upgrade. It’s not the absolute highest-capacity diaper out there — and, quite frankly, it doesn’t have to be — but for everyday or overnight use in the AB/DL scene, it holds its own reliably.

Fit and Comfort: Snug, Soft, and Side-Sleeper Friendly

One of the best parts? The fit is fantastic. The cloth-like backing is breathable and cozy against the skin, avoiding that plasticky feel some dislike. It comes with four strong hook-and-loop tapes that grip exceptionally well — even after heavy use and movement. I could get a really snug adjustment, which was perfect for side-sleeping without tapes popping loose or shifting.

Early complaints about tapes in initial batches seem resolved here — these are among the strongest hook-and-loop fasteners I’ve tried in AB/DL diapers. They hold tension without giving up, unlike some other brands where tapes can weaken when stretched or the diaper gets heavier over time.

Who Should Try ABU Little Kings?

If you’re looking for a premium, aesthetically stunning diaper with a fun lion theme, excellent softness, and solid (improved) performance, the current Little Kings are definitely worth it. They’re ideal for:

  • Babyfurs and AB/DL littles who love cute, positional prints
  • Folks prioritizing comfort and breathability over max capacity
  • Anyone who’s a fan of ABU’s quality and wants something regal

They’re on the pricier side compared to some options, but the design, feel, and that Japanese-inspired charm make them special. If early reviews turned you off, it’s time for a second look. The team at ABU clearly listens and delivers.
